10KW - watchout!

Tuesday 072809 - My friend Kip - the electrician - stopped by and blessed the wiring for the 10 KW sub panel in the workshop, and then connected the 8 gauge wires to the service panel. I now have 10KW of power at my disposal in the workshop!!

I spent the rest of the day getting the workbench finished, and started thinking about the shelves.

I am getting anxious to do some welding. I am almost ready to make my initial orders to my suppliers for the tubing and other misc parts to build up my first few frames. I keep vacillating about which frame I want to make first. Should my first bike be a simple grocery getter with a planetary hub drive train and coaster brake using an old school tube set and established geometry to learn how to use my new equipment - or just go straight to making a hard tail 29er, in preparation for the around town hauler bikes I plan to build a few of.

Most likely - I will go the more conservative route and make at least a few simple frames using a straightforward design / geometry and inexpensive tube sets to ensure a good understanding of the new equipment without investing a lot of time and money in expensive materials that initially may not be up to my desired level of craftsmanship.
